Todd is a registered United States, Australian, New Zealand patent attorney based in Denton County, Texas.
Todd has extensive experience in procuring and defending important intellectual property, including patents and trademarks. He is one of only a small number of actively tri-licensed U.S., Australian, and New Zealand patent attorneys. His specialties include software patents and Internet technology, intellectual property for start-up businesses, medical device patents, and general mechanical technology.
Todd was an examiner in one of the medical device examining units at the United States Patent & Trademark Office prior to becoming a patent and trade mark attorney. This provided Todd with a unique insight into the patenting process.
While a patent attorney in the U.S., Todd was involved in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the Michelson patent portfolio, the bulk of
which was sold to Medtronic for US$1.35 Billion in 2005. Much of his work factored in favourable multi-million dollar judgements and settlements for his clients.
Todd is in an excellent position to utilize his extensive experience in working with high net-worth inventions to guide and benefit his clients, which range from individual inventors to multi-national corporations. One of his articles on patenting methods of medical treatment has been cited in a brief in an important patent case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Todd is professionally licensed with the patent offices of the U.S.A., Australia and New Zealand. He is admitted to the Bar in Texas (active), Washington D.C. (active), California, Virginia and Ohio.
